Springfield Missouri Januvia Attorneys — An Update on Pancreatic Cancer

Preston Law in Springfield Missouri is now representing clients who may have been harmed by the diabetes drug Januvia. We are Missouri Januvia lawyers.

Januvia (sitagliptin phosphate) is a drug that has been linked to an increased risk of pancreatic cancer.  Pancreatic cancer is a terrible affliction that often leads to a painful death.  Januvia became FDA-approved on October 16, 2006 for use in adults with Type II diabetes. Januvia is manufactured by Merck & Co., Inc.  It has been prescribed millions of times. The medication is also available in a combination pill, known as Janumet, that contains the drug metformin.

The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approved Januvia to help Type-II diabetics control their blood sugar levels. Januvia is sold as a pill. Other sitagliptin type 2 diabetes drugs include Janumet, Janumet XR, and Juvisuync.  If you have taken any of these drugs, or are still taking them, you should speak with your physician.  You should not stop taking any drug without consulting your physician.

In a study published in the journal Diabetes, researchers found that Januvia caused abnormalities in the pancreas that are recognized as risk factors for pancreatitis and, with time, pancreatic cancer. More medical research is continuing.

At Preston Law, we believe a strong case can be made that Merck failed to adequately warn medical practitioners and pharmaceutical consumers about the risk of serious and sometimes fatal Januvia side effects, including pancreatic cancer. If you or someone you know has taken this medication and developed pancreatic cancer, you should speak with a our personal injury attorneys at Preston Law to learn more about your legal rights.  The consultation is always free and we take these cases on a No Fee unless you win basis.
